Covid-19

Dear MBCNSW Member,

The club executive has considered recent World Health Organisation (WHO) and Government statements regarding Covid 19, and the community response. After careful consideration, it is with deep regret that we hereby announce the postponement all club events, meetings and activities until further notice. We will update you as soon as we have new information for you.

As stated by WHO on March 9, 2020, “All countries must aim to stop transmission and prevent the spread of COVID-19, whether they face no cases, sporadic cases, clusters or community transmission.” Just two days later, the virus was characterized as a pandemic with significant government reaction manifested in part by the shutting down of a number of large-scale events, school closures, international travel restrictions and self-isolation requirements. Community and business reaction has included voluntary school closures, Councils withdrawing event permissions, conference cancellations, businesses banning meetings, severely restricting travel and mandating working from home where practical, all in an attempt to slow further transmission of this virus and protect health systems from becoming overwhelmed.

In order to play our part, to adhere to warnings against holding events and facilitating the clustering of people, we are taking the responsible step of joining others to help ensure we maintain the health and safety of all our members and the broader community. Every effort to slow the spread of the virus will help save lives. Each and every one of us has the capacity to contribute to this by not only protecting themselves but protecting others.

Please be assured the Executive is and will continuing to monitor the situation closely and will endeavor to have the club operating as normal, as soon as it is possible.

We encourage you to continue to interact by email, phone and Facebook with your fellow club executives and Historic Registrars etc.

Kind regards,

John Assarapin
