Comments: This Mercedes-Benz 350SL is a solid example of the marque’s classic roadster, which benefits from the fitment of a later more powerful 450SL engine. It has been used as intended but well-maintained. Supplied with its matching hard top roof, it is ready for sunny weekend jaunts or year-round use, and could be a great entry point into classic Mercedes ownership. https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1973-mercedes-benz-r107-350sl

Comments

This is a regretful sale. I have enjoyed cruising in this great classic W123, but my brother’s garage is making way for his new BMW purchase and I have been asked to vacate. I purchased this W123 from Unique Motor Garage in Petersham. Phil, the principal has a great reputation for selling high quality classic Mercedes. At one stage this W123 was owned by the owner of CMR Marrickville with all the mechanical running gear being comprehensively replaced.
If you are interested in a W123, this one will not disappoint.
I have meticulously maintained this car, always garaged and avoided driving in the rain. For such a modest classic it always attracts positive attention. The signal red against the beige MB-Tex interior is a beautiful colour combination, it is in original condition with the exception of the radio, which was upgraded to a CD player prior to my purchase. This car is rust free, the dash does have minor cracking (common amongst these models) and is covered by a matching mat.
On-going service has been at CMR Marrickville and SilverStar Kingsgrove.
It’s time to pass this onto the next owner to enjoy. Happy to share receipt and service history details.

1970 280SE

This classic Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Saloon earlier this year from Grays Auctions. Unfortunately, due to work travel commitments, cannot pick it up. The car is still at Grays Auctions in North Dandenong, Melbourne, Victoria. I have the paid purchase receipt from Grays and am happy to provide it upon request for verification.

This vehicle features a 3.5-litre V8 engine with automatic transmission. The exterior is finished in white paint, with surface rust present on the roof and minor rust spots at the bottoms of the doors. There is a small dent on the rear driver’s side door, additional marks on the underside from forklift movement, and a rust breakout on the front bumper. The glass is in excellent condition, and the chrome is in good shape overall. The interior is upholstered in blue and is in very good condition for its age, with the seats and seatbelts intact. However, the dashboard has some sun cracks, the boot lining has deteriorated, and the bonnet catch mechanism and underlining are missing. The detached Mercedes bonnet badge is included and stored in the glovebox.

Mechanically, the engine turns over but does not start. New Mobil engine oil was added in July 2024, but the battery is flat and will not be included in the sale. Interior lights, fans, door locks, indicators, and headlights are functional. The car comes with a single key, but no service history is available.

This is a solid vintage Mercedes with great potential for restoration. I have many photos available, including detailed images of the interior, engine, body, and underside, which I can provide upon request. This car would make an excellent project for a restoration enthusiast.
